WALTER "BUB" PRATT -  VOITURE 224 HISTORIAN
JUNE 4, 1928 - JULY 23, 2009

PRATT

Walter G. “Bub” Pratt died suddenly but peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 22, 2009.

The son of the late Ruby Reynolds and Walter, Sr., he was born June 4, 1928 in Chesapeake City, Md., and spent his boyhood in Washington, D.C.

Bub was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, sailing the Pacific Theatre during the Korean Conflict. Upon discharge from the Navy, he continued his career as an electronics engineer in the private sector in Norfolk, VA., for 20 years until his relocation to Slidell in 1974. He concluded his career from New Orleans as a merchant marine by going back to sea as a ship’s communication officer.

Bub made many friends in the area and will be greatly missed by them, including those he considered to have been privileged to serve with at Slidell American Legion Post 185; he was especially proud to have been a member of their Color Guard for many years and to help honor fellow veterans. Bub was also a proud Voyageur Militaire with the elite veterans group known as the 40 and 8. He belonged to St. Tammany Voiture 224 holding the position of Historian.

Surviving are daughters, Mary Hope, Angelia, and Kay; sons Tommy and Rusty and caring son-in-law Dan. He was predeceased by his son Walter III and daughter Rita. He also leaves ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren, who loved him dearly.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at the American Legion Post 185, 1680 St. Ann Place, Slidell, LA. on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Post 185 in Bub’s memory would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements by Honaker Funeral Home, Inc., Slidell, LA.
