Homer Williams VFW Post 8720
Celebrated its 70th Anniversary being mustered in on November 6th, 1946.
The post is located at 21470 Mire Drive, Abita Springs, La. and is named
after Homer Williams, an Abita Springs resident who was killed in action during
the American landing at Anzio during WWII. He was 20 years old when he
died. The members actively support veterans as well as active members of
the military and youth activities that are both educational and present
scholarship and cash prize opportunities at 22 schools in the area as well as
Cub Scout Pack 222 and Boy Scout Troop 610. Any veteran that qualifies is
welcome to become a member. The Post meets on the first Thursday of every
month, dinner is served at 6:00 PM, meeting starts at 7:30 PM.
