Highway to
honor Purple Heart veterans
A stretch of Interstate 20 in Shreveport and Bossier City will be dedicated as “Purple Heart
Recipients Highway” Thursday, October 4, 2007 in a 10 a.m. ceremony at the Bossier/Caddo Veterans Memorial on the Bossier Civic Center property, 620 Benton Road in Bossier City.
The event will
be conducted by the Northwest Louisiana Chapter No. 351 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, together with the Louisiana
Department of Transportation and Development and state Rep. Jane Smith, who led efforts to get the Legislature to designate
the segment. Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover and Bossier City Mayor Lo Walker also are scheduled to be on hand.
The stretch to be dedicated runs from
the Interstate 49 interchange in Shreveport to the interchange with Interstate 220 in Bossier City.
